Scarpa Named Gatorade Player of the Year

West Florida Flames player Jesse Scarpa was recognized as the Gatorade Player of the Year for women’s soccer in Florida. Scarpa will be playing her college soccer at University of North Carolina following her upcoming season with the club. “I wasn’t really expecting the award”, stated Scarpa. “I am honored to be receiving this award. I want to thank my family, coaches, and teammates. Without these people, I wouldn’t be the player that I am.”

U17 Boys Reach Finals

The West Florida Flames U17 boys had an excellent run in state cup to propel them to the finals. Short numbers through injury, the boys would ride a 2-1 win in the semifinals to the championship match. The Flames would drop a 1-0 game with the goal coming in the second overtime period on a penalty kick. Congratulations to the U17 boys on their fine run of form.

U11 Girls Win Tournament

The West Florida Flames U11 girls won the NIKE Champions Cup this past weekend in Apopka, FL. The girls were undefeated in the tournament and outscored their opponents 16-2 in route to the championship. The tournament marked a great end to U11 team’s season.

FYSA State Cup Champions

The West Florida Flames U17 girls captured their third FYSA State Cup Championship today in Auburndale, FL. Three goals and a clean sheet against FC America would see the Flames lift the cup. Lauren Greene opened the scoring for the Flames in the first half. Second half insurance goals from Jordyn Turner and Jessie Scarpa would assure the girls would once again top the rest of Florida. Congratulations to the U17 girls.

98/99 Boys Win Tournament

The West Florida Flames U14 Boys finished an undefeated campaign at the Nike Champions Cup with a 2-0 victory in the final. The boys would score 14 goals and surrender a lone goal through the tournament. Congratulations to the U14 Flames.

U15 Boys Advance to Finals

The U15 boys had an outstanding run of form at the Nike Champions Cup in Apoka, FL. After three straight shutouts to win the group, the boys would advance to the championship match. In the final, the Flames would drop a tough one and take the silver. Congratulations to the U15 boys.

FYSA State Cup Update

After an exciting round of semifinal games at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, two Flames teams will be playing tomorrow in the FYSA State Cup Championship match. The U17 boys advanced with a goal in the final second of the match to advance past TBU by a 2-1 margin and will be playing West Pines United at 11:00. Another matchup with TBU saw the U17 girls emerge victorious by a score a 2-0. The U17 girls Championship match will be streaming live at http://new.livestream.com/FYSALIVE/events/1780505 as they take on FC America at 8:30 am. The West Florida Flames continue their hunt for the FYSA State Cup Championship this weekend in Auburndale. The Flames U17 girls, as well as, the U17 and U18 boys have semifinal match ups today at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. With a win, they will play in the final the following day. The Flames U19 girls will also be in Auburndale this weekend starting their opening round group play. Congratulations to all the Flames teams. U16 Boys Win Palm Beach Cup

The West Florida Flames 96/97 Boys Blue team captured the U16 championship at the Palm Beach Cup. The boys left it late for a 2- 1 victory in their second game with a penalty kick in the final minute of the match. An undefeated run in group play saw them through to the finals and a 3-1 victory over the Boynton Beach Knights would claim the championship for the Flames. Congratulations to the 96/97 boys on a great tournament weekend!

U18 Boys Reach Finals

The West Florida Flames U18 boys ended their youth soccer careers on a high note, reaching the 2013 Florida Cup Finals after a great run of form. A tough 2-1 semifinal victory propelled the boys into the final. Short-handed, the boys dropped a narrow result to IMG in the final. U16 Flames Battle to Win Final

Jacob Goodall’s sensational free kick in overtime would be the difference in a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid. Jake Van der Luit opened the scoring for the Flames in a hard fought match. The boys left it all on the field and were rewarded for their efforts with the 2013 Florida Cup title and a berth in National Cup XII in Aurora, CO. Congrats to the U16 boys.

West Florida Flames U17 girls added another accomplishment to their already impressive soccer resumes by bringing home the 2013 Florida Cup title. The Flames would score two and post a shutout against fellow ECNL club Orlando City in the Final. Congratulations to the U17 Flames.

U15 Girls Win in OT

They may have needed overtime, but the West Florida Flames U15 girls scored in each overtime to take home the Florida Cup Championship by a final score of 2-0. The Flames will advance to Colorado for the National Cup Finals in June. Congratulations to the Flames U15 girls.

98/99 Girls Crowned Florida Cup Champions

When the final whistle blew for the West Florida Flames U14 girls, the Florida Cup Championship belonged to them. A 2-1 win over FC America behind two goals from Taylor Morgan propelled the Flames to the title and a berth in the National Cup XII in Aurora, CO. Congratulations to the 98/99 girls on this achievement.

Flames Outstanding in 5K

The West Florida Flames U11 Girls team was out in force at the 1st Annual Army GI JOG 5K held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Ybor City. The race was held to raise money for the 238th Army Ball at Macdill AFB. The U11 girls took the TOP 3 spots in the U18 Female Division. Fellow Flames members Jacob McDonald and Jarod Hendrix also had great outings at the race. Congratulations to the Flames members.

VSI West FL Flames (Brandon) ended the season on a high note with a pair of commanding victories. The Florida squad topped Orlando City YS 6-2 on Saturday thanks to a pair of goals from Meme Morgan. Peyton Smith, Hannah Roth, Meredith Manson, and Lauren Evans also scored for VSI. The two teams met again on Sunday, and VSI came out victorious 4-0 behind goals from Manson, Morgan, Smith, and Addison Ura. Click here for full article

The West Florida Flames 02/03 Girls Gold team captured the U10 8v8 championship at the Adidas Cup Club Challenge over the weekend with a 2-0 victory in the final. Dominating the competition and going undefeated in the group round, scoring 15 goals while only conceding one, propelled the Flames into the championship game in a rematch against TBU North for the tournament title, which the Flames convincingly won. U9 Boys Win Tournament

The West Florida Flames U9 Academy Boys team made a statement at the Best of the Bay tournament this past weekend in St Pete. Coach Baumann entered his team in the U10 division looking for a challenge and had a very intense weekend of soccer. The boys rose to the challenge winning their first 2 games on Saturday. On Sunday they fell 2 -1 but still clinched the top seed of their bracket. That afternoon they came back from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to win the championship game by a score of 3-2 against Jacksonville! Way to represent WFF U9 boys!

The West Florida Flames U11 Girls Gold team captured the West Pasco Junior Showcase Championship over the weekend with a 3-0 victory in the final. Dominating the competition in the group round, scoring 12 goals while only conceding one, propelled the Flames into the championship game in a rematch against FishHawk for the tournament title, which the Flames convincingly won. U10 Boys Win Tournament

The West Florida Flames U10 Boys academy captured the West Pasco/TBU Junior Showcase after a weekend full of goals and quality soccer. The Flames were undefeated throughout the event and scored 16 goals in four games to claim the tournament championship. Congrats to the U10 boys!

The final match would need penalties to decide the outcome with the Flames emerging victorious after not conceding a single penalty. Every Age Group Advances in State Cup

The West Florida Flames players are returning home from the opening round of state cup after a tremendously successful weekend. Every age group in the boys and girls state cup had a West Florida Flames group advance. In the U16 boys, U17 boys, and U17 girls groups the Flames will have two teams in the next round. After some poor weather, some of the matches had to be postponed. The U17 girls and U18 boys could have an additional representative each pending the outcome of the rescheduled matches. Congratulations to all the club players as they return to make preparations for the next rounds.

Julian Hall and Raheem Taylor-Parkes Selected to US U14 National Team
