Parent Education

Parent behavior at youth sporting events has become out of hand. Before you think that you are not one of the people that we are talking about, consider that verbal and physical abuses are not the only things that may harm your child’s development. There are many more issues such as:

  1. Coaching from the sideline (telling the players every pass they should make or where to run) that inhibits the development of the necessary decision making skills that they will need to play soccer at the next level.
  2. Encouraging and praising a “big kick” when the modern game requires a less direct approach and the “boot it” method is not developmentally appropriate for youth players.
These are merely two common examples of many that will have long term detrimental effects on your children’s development both as soccer players and human beings. The parent education information provided here is to help the players receive the respect and direction they need in order to succeed on the field and in life. Please watch the videos and read the material for the sake of the children and your child in particular.
