VSI Performance Training’s mission is to provide players with the opportunity to reach their true athletic potential while also attempting to develop traits that will lead to success on and off the soccer field. VSI Performance Training provides performance training in all aspects of athletic performance including: coordination, flexibility, agility, speed, power, and endurance.
Here is an outline of what the VSI Performance Training will incorporate in regards to a player or team’s soccer performance training:
Teach them to move with rhythm and coordination
Add balance, stability, speed and confidence to this movement
Teach them how to react to situations
Introduce a ball (not from a technical perspective) but from a play perspective
Teach them how to move on, off and around the ball and other players with speed and precision
Increase the load/intensity in the weight room (make them more explosive)
Teach them how to use this newly developed explosiveness to their advantage on the field
Introduce complexity, situations and speed of play within speed/agility drills
Condition them to such a level that they can showcase their talent to the fullest of their genetic potential at the highest speeds late in games
Educate, Challenge and Motivate them to want to be the best they can be as a player and team
The VSI Performance Training System develops a balanced fitness base for athletes – strength, muscle mass, flexibility, power, and endurance. It focuses on four key areas: Mental Conditioning/Mindset, Nutrition, Physical Conditioning/Movement Prep, and Prehab/Elasticity/Regeneration. Together, these four fundamental areas of fitness help athletes perform on the playing field and in life.
·Mental Conditioning/Mindset - Walking into a situation or working toward a goal with a full understanding of what it requires and how to accomplish it. For long-term success it is important to create a game plan to guide you through the process and keep you motivated. With a proper mindset…anything is possible for an athlete.
·Nutrition – Optimizing an athlete’s nutrition will help maximize performance. The path to success is not about deprivation, but instead it is focused on being proactive with your health by combining nutrition and fitness for maximum results.
·Physical Conditioning/Movement Prep – Physical Conditioning develops sport-specific strength, power, movement, speed, agility, flexibility, and conditioning in athletes. Movement Prep is an active warm-up routine that replaces traditional pre-exercise static stretching.
·Prehab/Elasticity/Regeneration – Prehab uses a proactive approach to protect athletes from injury. Elasticity helps the body generate force and make it “springy” and more flexible. Regeneration uses a series of low-intensity activities designed to enhance recovery. In regeneration there are two types of recovery: Active and Passive. The end result of combining active and passive recovery…you come back stronger!
